This 36-month apprenticeship combines classroom learning with practical workplace experience, preparing apprentices to complete an industry- recognised trade test.

Available Apprenticeship Trades

Successful applicants will receive training in one of the following specialised printing trades:

  • Lithography Press
  • Electronic Pre-Press
  • Mechanised Bookbinding
  • Gravure Press
  • Sheetfed Press

What the Apprenticeship Includes

The apprenticeship is structured over three years and includes both theoretical and workplace-based training.

Phase 1

  • Approximately 3 – 4 months of theoretical training at the training academy.

Phase 2 – 4

  • Approximately 26 – 30 months of practical workplace training at Novus Print.

During the programme, apprentices will receive:

  • Facilitated theoretical learning
  • Practical on-the-job experience
  • Training through the academy and Printing SA
  • Preparation for the relevant trade test

Please note: Successful completion of the apprenticeship does not guarantee permanent employment with Novus Print.


Minimum Requirements

To qualify, applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy
  • At least 60% for Mathematical Literacy (where applicable)
  • A copy of your Matric certificate or latest results
  • A technical background or foundation will be an added advantage
