Programme Overview

The Western Cape Mobility Department is recruiting Student Cadet Traffic Officers to complete a:

Further Education and Training Certificate: Road Traffic Law Enforcement
Training Venue: Gene Louw Traffic College
Start Date: 08 June 2026
Duration: 12 Months


What You’ll Get

Minimum Requirements

To qualify, you must:

  • Have Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Hold a valid Code B (manual) driver’s license
  • Be physically fit
  • Have no criminal record
  • Be 35 years old or younger
  • Have no visible tattoos or prohibited piercings
  • Be willing to undergo:
    • Medical & drug tests
    • Fitness assessments
    • Psychometric evaluation

⚠️ Note: Due to the physical nature of the training, pregnant applicants will not be considered.


What You’ll Do

  • Enforce road traffic laws
  • Promote road safety and crime prevention
  • Conduct traffic control and policing
  • Perform administrative duties
  • Work shifts (including nights and weekends)

  • This bursary does NOT guarantee permanent employment
  • You’ll sign a 12-month training contract
  • Ongoing fitness and drug testing applies
  • Selection includes interviews + assessments
