About the role
Join Forvia — a global sustainable mobility technology leader — as a YES Purchasing Graduate at the FIS Pretoria (Rosslyn) plant. You’ll develop hands-on skills in supplier performance management, cost reduction, and cross-functional procurement strategy under the South African Youth Employment Service (YES) programme.
What you’ll work on
Identify and implement cost-reduction productivity actions in close coordination with commodity teams and the plant.
Monitor supplier performance through cross-functional productivity committees and present progress to plant management.
Support and challenge commodity buyers to achieve the purchasing budget.
Assist the supply chain team in improving supplier deviation metrics (Misdeliveries Per Million – MPM).
Participate in programme kick-off meetings and lead transfer meetings with programme buyers at take-over stage.
Lead negotiations for Engineering Change Requests within your perimeter, working closely with commodity teams.
Initiate productivity planning for responsible suppliers to support future-year budgets and strategic plans.
Requirements
National Diploma, Bachelor’s or Master’s in Engineering or Business
1–2 years’ experience in purchasing, production, quality, or sales
Automotive industry experience (advantageous)
Proficient in English (read, write, speak)
Must be between 18 and 35 years of age
Must not have previously participated in the YES Youth Programme
Skills & competencies
Knowledge of productivity and Lean Management methodologies
Understanding of production, quality, and logistics processes
Familiarity with relevant automotive products and technologies
Ability to work effectively within a matrix organisation
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Basic understanding of supplier audit processes and quality management systems
