The De Beers Group has opened applications for the Venetia Engineering Learnership Programme 2026 at the Venetia Mine in Musina, Limpopo.

De Beers Group is one of the world’s leading diamond companies with operations in several countries. The company has been operating since 1888 and plays a major role in the global diamond industry.

The Venetia Mine is South Africa’s most valuable diamond mine and is currently undergoing a major underground expansion project.

This learnership programme offers unemployed youth the chance to gain formal artisan training and practical experience in various engineering trades.

Successful candidates will complete a four-year structured learnership that combines classroom training with practical workplace experience.

The closing date for applications is 20 March 2026.

Available Engineering Learnership Trades

Applicants can apply for training in the following trades:

Boilermaker

Instrument Mechanician

Electrician

Fitter and Turner

Diesel Mechanic

Transportation Electrician (Auto Electrician)

Rigger

These programmes lead to a QCTO Occupational Qualification and prepare learners to qualify as artisans in the mining industry.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for the learnership, applicants must meet the following requirements:

Grade 12 with:

Mathematics (not Maths Literacy)

Physical Science

English

Minimum 40% pass in all subjects

Applicants may also qualify with:

N2 certificate with relevant engineering subjects, OR

NCV Level 3 with Mathematics and related engineering subjects.

Additional Requirements

Candidates must also:

Be able to travel for training outside Limpopo

Pass a mine medical fitness test (Red Ticket)

Pass psychometric and technical assessments

Pass SAPS criminal record verification

Applicants must also provide proof that they are from the Blouberg or Musina Municipalities.

Training and Programme Structure

Successful learners will receive:

Formal training at the accredited training centre in Randfontein

On-the-job training at Venetia Mine

A four-year fixed-term learnership contract

This programme provides valuable experience in one of South Africa’s largest mining infrastructure projects.

Proof of residential address

Municipality or Tribal Council confirmation letter proving local residence
