2026 Mauritius–Africa Scholarship Scheme: Applications Now Open for South African Students

The 2026 Mauritius–Africa Scholarship Scheme is now accepting applications! This fully funded international opportunity allows South African students to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate studies abroad in Mauritius starting July/September 2026.

This prestigious programme, coordinated by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), is one of the top African scholarships for South African students seeking affordable, high-quality education overseas.


Fields of Study

Through this scholarship, beneficiaries can study at recognized public universities in Mauritius, across a variety of in-demand programmes, such as:

  • Engineering
  • Actuarial Sciences
  • Finance and Accounting
  • Computer Science
  • Graphic Design
  • Human Resources
  • Tourism
  • Education
  • And other career-driven fields

Please note: Medicine and Law are not included in this scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements to qualify:

  • Be a South African citizen in good health
  • Undergraduate applicants: under 26 years old by 1 January 2027
  • Postgraduate applicants: under 40 years old by 1 January 2027
  • Hold a minimum 60% academic average (excluding Life Orientation)
  • Meet the entry requirements of the chosen Mauritian university
  • Must have applied for a full-time on-campus programme at a public Higher Education Institution in Mauritius

Application Deadline

The final date for submissions is:
